Q. What is the difference between a THRIFT STORE and a CONSIGNMENT SHOP?
A. The consignment shop is able to be more discriminating in the merchandise they accept. At Consignment Boutique, for example, we have a list of clothing brands we accept and those we do not. Everything brought to a consignment shop must be in excellent condition, have no stains or tears, and currently in style.
Q. Do I need an appointment to consign my items?
A. It is best to have an appointment for your first visit. We will go through your items and give you feedback. If items are not accepted this gives us a chance to explain to you our reason. After your first visit you may do what is called “Drop and Run”. As the name implies your bring in your completed inventory form and leave your items for us to sort, price, and process.
Q. What is meant by DONATE or PICK UP items?
A. If you select the donate option, the items that we were not able to sell or otherwise did not meet our criteria are given to Blue Ridge Hospice, our designated charity. You may come in and get an itemized list of what was donated and fill out the Blue Ridge Hospice donation form with the amount you select. There is NO FEE for this choice. The “pick up” option is available if you want to come in at the end of your consignment to reclaim your items. There is a $25 annual fee for this option. We will call you when your items are ready for pickup. We allow 72 hours for your response—if you are unable to come in right away you must call and let us know when you will pick them up. Per policy items not picked up within the designated time period will be donated.
Q. What sizes of clothing do you accept/sell?
A. We carry all sizes, ranging from 0 to 4X. Selection of sizes varies from time to time and ALL sizes may not be available ALL the time.
Q. Do you accept Vintage clothing?
A. No, vintage clothing is a special niche market. We may be able to refer you to a store that accepts vintage clothes.
Q. How many items may I bring at any one time?
A. We ask that you limit your items to 20 per visit. You may bring in items frequently but we like to have a wide variety of merchandise.
Q. Do I need to fill out the inventory sheet before I come in?
A. Yes, by filling in the form we can quickly go through your items. If you have an appointment, we will cross out items that we do not accept and you may choose to donate them or take them home. If you “pick up” your items we will call you to pick up items that were not accepted.
Q. What is Fashion Fit Formula?
A. It is a series of measurements based on your unique bone structure that gives you a printout of the perfect length for your clothes. They are ALL vertical measurements and will last throughout your life. You can be measured in 10 minutes and have your results emailed within 72 business hours.
